Swaziland National Provident Fund Maximum Statutory Contribution Increase
The attention of all contributing employers is drawn to Legal Notice No. 140 of 2004, Section 2 (i) (c ) thereof , which states that the wages level for statutory contributions for the year 2009 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages of one thousand two hundred Emalangeni (E1, 200.00) or less during any calendar month.
This means that with effect from 01 January 2009, the maximum contributions per employee will increase from E110.00 to E120.00 per month (60:60).
Employers (members of the Fund) are advised to check their pay slips to see if the correct deductions have been effected.

The Swaziland National Provident Fund Order, 1974
(Kings Order-in-Council No. 23 of 1974)
In exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 14, 15 & 17 of the Swaziland National Provident Fund Order, 1974, the Honourable Minister of Finance, after consultation with the Honourable Minister for Economic Planning and Development hereby make the following Regulations:-
Citation and Commencement
- These Regulations may be cited as the Swaziland National Provident Fund (Statutory Contributions) Regulations, 2004 and shall come into effect force on the first day of January 2005 and shall continue to be in force for a period not exceeding five years.
Wages level for statutory contributions
- (1) statutory contributions for;
- The year 2005 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages of eight hundred Emalangeni (E800.00) or less during any calendar month;
- The year 2006 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages of nine hundred Emalangeni (E900.00) or less during any calendar month;
- The year 2007 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages of one thousand Emalangeni (E1,000.00) or less during any calendar month;
- The year 2008 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages of one thousand one hundred Emalangeni (E1, 100.00) or less during any calendar month.
- The year 2009 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages of one thousand two hundred Emalangeni (E1, 200.00) or less during any calendar month.
(2) The wages of eligible employees in excess of the amounts stipulated in subsection (1) (a) to (e) during any calendar month shall be disregarded for the purpose of statutory contributions in respect of wage limits outside those stipulated for the year under reference.
