Statutory Contributions Increase

Swaziland National Provident Fund Maximum Statutory Contribution Increase 2013
The attention of all contributing employers is drawn to Legal Notice No. 8 of 2010, Section 2 (1) (d) thereof, which states that wages level for statutory contributions for the year 2013 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages of one thousand six hundred Emalangeni (E1, 600.00) or less during any calendar month. This means that with effect from 01 January 2013, the maximum contributions per employee will increase from E150.00 to E160.00 per month (80:80).
Employees (members of the Fund) are advised check their pay slips to see if the correct deductions have been effected. Legal Notice No. 8 of 2010 is reproduced here under for easy reference.

LEGAL NOTICE NO. 8 OF 2010
The Swaziland National Provident Fund Order, 1974
(Kings Order-in-Council No. 23 of 1974), THE SWAZILAND NATIONAL PROVIDENT FUND (STATUTORY CONTRIBUTIONS) REGULATIONS, 2010 (Under Sections 14 and15)
In exercise of the powers conferred on him by Sections 14 and 15 of the Swaziland National Provident Fund Order, 1974, the Minister for Labour and Social Security, after consultation with the Minister for Finance and Economic Planning and Development hereby makes the following Regulations-
Citation and Commencement

  1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Swaziland National Provident Fund (Statutory Contributions) Regulations, 2010.

Wages level for statutory contributions

  1. (2) These Regulations shall come into force on the 1st January, 2011 and shall continue to be in force for a period not exceeding five years. Wages level for statutory contributions 2. (1) Statutory contributions for:
    1. (a) the year 2010 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages of one thousand three hundred Emalangeni (E1,300.00) or less during any calendar month;
    2. (b) the year 2011 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages of one thousand four hundred Emalangeni (E1,400) or less during any calendar month;
    3. (c) the year 2012 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages one thousand five (E1,500) or less during any calendar month;
    4. (d) the year 2013 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages of one thousand six hundred Emalangeni (E1,600) or less during any calendar month; and
    5. (e) the year 2014 shall be payable by a contributing employer in respect of wages of one thousand seven hundred Emalangeni (E1, 700) or less during any calendar month.

2. The wages of eligible employees in excess of the amounts stipulated in subsection (I) (a) to (e) during any calendar month shall be disregarded for the purpose of statutory contributions in respect of wage limits outside those stipulated for the year under reference.
